Lady Raiders Topple Brownsboro, Win Three of Five at Coppell Tournament

Faith Acker led all scorers with 24 points in the Lady Raiders 56-54 victory over Class 4A Brownsboro on November 16. Winnsboro led 25-23 at halftime and carried a six-point lead into the fourth quarter. The Lady Bears outscored Winnsboro 19-15 in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Raiders held on for the win. Reese Lindley scored seven followed by Faith Sechrist and Halle Deaton each with six points.

Things started to unravel in the fourth quarter, but Winnsboro fought through the adversity and came out on top.

The JV beat Brownsboro 38-27. Payton Green dropped in 11 points and Natalee Shirley scored seven.

The varsity traveled to Coppell for a tournament that featured multiple high-profile, large-school programs. Winnsboro went three and one in pool games on Thursday and Friday.

They handled teams from Burleson 58-21 and JJ Pearce 62-19. Acker led all scorers with 21 points over Burleson; Halle Darst scored 10.

They defeated Tyler Legacy 61-49. Both teams turned it up in the fourth quarter; Winnsboro scored 23 and Legacy pumped in 20.

Coppell clipped Winnsboro 65-53. Winnsboro led 25-20 at halftime; Coppell surged past with 45-28 scoring in the second half.

LD Bell topped the Lady Raiders 61-50 in Saturday’s bracket play.
